Hasek’s Heroes Teams Up with
Big Brothers Big Sisters!
On November 19th Hasek’s Heroes kicked off a new program in partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County. Nine new children, along with their “matches” learned to skate at the Bud Bakewell Riverside Ice Rink! The kids and their mentor spent an hour on the ice, then some extra time in the education room, doing homework, projects and other academic components. Dates are scheduled for the upcoming months. For more information, please call the Hasek’s Heroes office – 875-4820.
Hasek’s Heroes, in partnership with the Buffalo Sabres, USA Sled Hockey and the VA Hospital, recently hosted two on-ice clinics for wounded servicemen and women.
Free equipment, ice and instruction were provided.
The purpose of the clinics is to provide wounded veterans with the opportunity to become active in an on-ice hockey program that will serve as a great physical and mental rehabilitation for these soldiers. We hope to announce future dates soon! Please call the Hasek's Heroes office (875-4820) for more information about this great program these organizations have collaborated
and formed together.

The Hockey is for Everyone initiative is a component of "The Biggest Assist Happens off the Ice," the National Hockey League's social responsibility program that builds on the League's long-standing tradition of addressing important social issues in North America and around the world.
Hockey is for Everyone provides support and unique programming to non-profit youth hockey organizations across North America that are committed to offering children of all backgrounds opportunities to play hockey. The initiative is supported by NHL member clubs, players, NHL alumni, and fans. To date, Hockey is for Everyone has exposed close to 45,000 boys and girls to unique hockey experiences.
To celebrate this initiative, the National Hockey League hosts the annual Hockey is for Everyone Month in February. The league-wide initiative includes numerous activities to promote the diversity of the game that involve our clubs, players, alumni, fans, and grass-roots diversity programs, all with the goal of raising awareness and celebrating the growth of the game
